Modern Artisans' 'Crafting a Better Tomorrow' Program donates at least 1% of profits to non-profit groups and organizations supporting a variety of worthy causes.  Organizations are chosen based on their support of unique causes and their ability to do so in a non-partisan and efficient manner. Organizations are chosen on a bi-annual basis to receive this donation and information on current recipients are listed here.  When shopping at Modern Artisans, you can feel confident that a portion of every dollar you spend will help craft a better tomorrow!

Through January 2011, approximately 1% of profits will support the following charities:

» The Craft Emergency Relief Fund (CERF)
The mission of CERF is to strengthen and sustain the careers of craft artists and artisans across the US by providing direct financial and educational assistance. Programs specialize in emergency relief assistance (including support following natural disasters), but also include business development support (including referrals and training on topics such as health, safety, and insurance). CERF also advocates, engages in research and backs policy that supports the careers of artists and artisans.

» Blue Ocean Society for Marine Conservation
Based in New Hampshire, the Blue Ocean Society collaborates with coastal study institutions and universities to research the marine life of New England and conserve coastal environments. A variety of outreach programs are provided to the public, including school presentations, educational whale watch tours, tide pool excursions, working toward the protection of endangered species and organizing over 200 beach cleanups per year.

» NC Association of Free Clinics
Through a collaborative network, the NCAFC works to improve access to health care for the uninsured and under-insured people of North Carolina. The organization strives to provide cost-saving opportunities to member clinics through group purchasing and leveraging of in-kind gifts, encourages high standards of operation, professionalism, and excellence for member clinics, creates educational opportunities and technical assistance for member clinics, and develops relationships with other public, private and professional health-related organizations

» The Libri Foundation
The Libri Foundation was established in 1989 for the sole purpose of helping rural libraries acquire new, quality, hardcover children's books they could not otherwise afford to buy. The Foundation supports the concept that children who learn to enjoy reading at an early age continue to read throughout their lives. In order to develop a love of reading, children must have access to books which stretch their imaginations, touch their emotions, expand their horizons. Since October 1990, the Foundation has donated over $3,200,000 worth of new children's books to more than 2,300 libraries throughout the rural United States.
