Glass Ammonite Necklace

About the Glass Ammonite Necklace

The ammonite, an ancient and extinct marine species, is artistically portrayed in glass, a revered symbol frozen in time.

Based in Massachusetts, artist J. Sinkus is passionate about the natural world and incorporates these passions into affordable works of wearable high-quality glass art. Created one at a time, molten borosilicate glass (the same safe, durable Pyrex glass used in bakeware and laboratory equipment), is melted, shaped, prodded and coaxed atop a flame to replicate a realistic ammonite fossil. One side of the ammonite features a textured shell-like surface, while the opposite side is cut and polished to expose the intricate chambers within. Pendant may be worn in either direction.

The pendant may vary slightly is shape due to the hand-worked process. Measures approximately 1.25" in height and includes a removable 18" black rubber cord with sterling silver lobster-claw clasp. Choose above from Exotic Green or Amber colors.
