Handmade in New York state, this elegant valet is handcrafted with heirloom-quality American walnut. A single specimen is used to assure perfect color and matching wood grains, while mitered corners with splines of cherry add strength and durability. An integrated dowel hinge allows for a clean, smooth finish on all sides and a complementing cherry wood handle adds the finishing touch.

The handsome lid uses a combination of American walnut, cherry, and maple woods in an intriguing contemporary inlay of a serene, zen-like landscape. Arched legs and sides of the box echo the smooth, flowing curves of the lid.

Within the handmade valet, you'll find a felted lined bottom for safe-keeping of personal items such as a wallet, keys, jewelry, watch, or money clip. Two dividers of cherry wood keep items tidy, but may be removed to accommodate larger items.

Wood details : Each box is constructed of all-natural hand-polished sustainable hardwoods and provided with a clear oil finish to protect against scratches and moisture. All coloring is natural - stains are not used. The following woods are the primary types used in the creation of this jewelry chest:

• • Cherry: Natural cherry wood is native to North America and is a very light (almost maple-like) color when new. Cherry will naturally darken with age to reveal a reddish-brown tint.
  • Walnut: a hardwood native to the Eastern United States featuring dark brown grains that are beautifully enhanced with age.
  • Maple : strong hardwood native to eastern North American with a creamy color. Birdseye variations in the wood are caused by a natural response within the maple to harsh growing conditions. Maple is used to create the lids in all versions of the jewelry chest.
