About the Folk Pottery 'Old Timer' Face Jug

A form of folk art at its finest, the American face jug is influenced by a marvelous melting pot of cultures, serving as a representation of the America's people, history, and culture. Today's southern artisans continue the classic tradition of face jugs and enchant us with whimsical faces and one-of-a-kind creations. These Face Jugs are characteristically adorned with exaggerated, hand-sculpted facial details that reflect a playful charm.

Handmade in the Appalachian mountains of Virginia, the 'Old Timer' face jug is turned in stoneware clay and high-fired to a permanent, durable finish. Measuring 9" high, the jug features earthy color glazes, wide eyes, big ears, grey beard, pipe, and cork.
