About the Hardwood Chess Board
Lovingly handmade in Nebraska of natural hardwoods, this gameboard is finished with a simple, non-toxic oil finish. The squares are comprised of solid maple and walnut from the American midwest, while the frame is a warm red padauk wood from Africa. The wood colors are natural, enhanced only by the mineral oil finish. Measures 12.75" x 12.75" (each square measures 1.5") and includes felt tabs on the bottom.
As a bonus, the wood chessboard includes playing pieces for both chess and checkers. Imported from India and modeled in the French Staunton style, the chessmen are wooden with a semi-gloss finish. The tallest chess piece (king) measures 2.75" while the smallest (pawn) measures 1.5". Checkers measure 1-3/16" diameter.
