About the Cast Pewter and Art Glass Mermaid

Handmade in Ohio, our pewter metal artist creates fantastic little works of art that blend a sense of storytelling with fanciful imagery. Using the artist's hand-sculpted mold, the mermaid's upper body is cast in solid pewter with a method that captures the hair, shells, and facial expression with great detail. The mermaid's lower body is formed from iridescent art glass that is framed in sturdy, lead-free metal foil to accent the pewter. The wall plaque measures 12" high and includes an integrated sawtooth hanger on reverse.

- What is pewter and is it safe?
Pewter is a white metal alloy consisting of tin with small amounts of antimony and copper. Traditionally used for kitchenware and jewelry, modern pewter is completely lead-free and safe. Best of all, pewter is durable, has a pleasant warm silver color, a soft shine, and does not tarnish.
