About the Hosukai Wave Journal

Artisan-crafted one at a time, this leather journal is crafted from quality cowhide custom tanned in navy blue and deeply embossed with a design replicating the beloved woodblock print 'The Great Wave off Kanagawa' (or simply, 'The Wave') by 19th-Century Japanese artist Hokusai. The journal is accented with a solid pewter button with a spiraling wave design to accent the Hokusai style. An attached rawhide cord loops around the pewter button to securely fasten the journal closed. Within the leather cover is a replaceable 5.5" x 8.5" 208-page hard-cover blank book of heavy bond acid-free pages, perfect for recording sketches, notes, poetry, dreams, diary entries, musings or your personal works of literature. 

The wave design extends fully on the front and rear of the journal. All leather portions are tanned and hand-tooled in the USA. Pewter accent is individually designed and cast in the USA.

• Ready for a refill? Once the pages are full, it is easily refillable with a new blank journal book (also available separately, below), allowing the journal to be appreciated for a lifetime. Blank refills found here

• You may also use certain other A5 refill books! Though dimensions vary slightly between "standard" A5 notebooks a notebook that is similar to the A5 standard international paper size – 5.8 x 8.3 inches (148 x 210 mm) will work, just make sure that the spine isn't too deep (spine must be 7/8 inch or less).
