About the 'Creature Comfort' Face Jug
A form of folk art at its finest, the American face jug is influenced by a marvelous melting pot of cultures, serving as a representation of the America's people, history, and culture. Today's artisans continue the classic tradition of face jugs and enchant us with whimsical faces and one-of-a-kind creations.
Handmade in the Appalachian Mountains of Virginia, this face jug is turned in stoneware clay and high-fired to a permanent, durable finish. With large and exagerated, hand-sculpted facial details, the creature has a whimsical personality that will be loved. Measuring 9" high, this face jug features a 2-tone blue/green glaze, wide bulging eyes, horns, long pointy nose, and four large fangs.
Special Note: There is a hairline crack visible on one horn (see photos). This crack occurred during firing and does not affect the stability of the stoneware.
