About the Cottage Pearl French Butter Crock
Invented in France in the 1800's, the Butter Crock is the ideal way to store and serve butter at room temperature.
Handmade in Georgia, the Cottage Pearl French Butter Crock is shaped on the potter's wheel, glazed by hand, and kiln-fired to a strong, permanent finish. The durable stoneware clay is adorned with a contemporary blend of airy color glazes - light brown, blue, and pink hues mingle on a base of classic speckled white. Perfectly functional and American-made, the stoneware pottery crock is lead-free, cadmium-free, food-safe, microwave safe and dishwasher safe.
How to use your French Butter Crock: Fill the lid of the crock with butter (holds at least 1/2 cup). Pour water into the bottom of the vessel at least 1/3 full. When the lid is placed inside the bottom, the butter is protected with an airtight seal of water. Butter keeps up to 30 days on the countertop at the perfect spreading consistency and does not have to be refrigerated.
Note: due to the handmade process, slight variations in color hues and size can be expected.
